i recently purchased the mill from the original 1955 buyer on craigslist. it has been repainted and a repair was made to the forward/reverse tumbler, the arm was broken. it came with an original Atlas machine stand, tooling and an original Catalog No M52 for metalworking machinery offered by Atlas Press company with a pricelist from 1955
Mar 06, 2007· Don't count on an Atlas milling machine to be capable of doing much work in any reasonable length of time,especially in steel.They work well in brass,and make a good little mill for clock makers.They are just too light.Something like a small Burke that 2 guys can move is much more of a real machine.This is my opinion,having had both mills in my beginning stages.Don't recall the Burke model.

But it seems with a little ingenuity, you can use it for a lathe ( using the spindle taper to hold a chuck and with the tool in the vice), an endmill with mill in the spindle and the vice turned 90* etc.
